Kids and Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are beneficial if your child plays sports, has an active lifestyle, or breaks their glasses regularly. Some things to keep in mind when deciding if your child is ready for contacts would be how responsible they are, if they practice good personal hygiene, and if they are comfortable touching their eye.

In some cases wearing contact lenses can improve the vision in nearsighted children by easing the progression of myopia (nearsightedness), and help to reduce the risk of long-term eye problems. There has been progress in the development of a contact lens specifically designed to help children with nearsightedness and it has recently been approved for use in the United States.
